 The Spiritual Direction Session 

My style of spiritual direction is non-directive and contemplative. The session begins with a time of shared silence. Or, if you prefer, we may begin with a poem, prayer, or reading at your request. 

There are limitless possibilities to explore in a spiritual direction session. You may or may not know what you want to discuss before beginning. Perhaps you seek a deeper connection to God, meaning to events in your life, clarity around a decision affecting your life, or something else. 

As a trained spiritual director, I will accompany you in this exploration. I will listen deeply to all that you are saying (or not saying) and assist you in noticing the movement of the Spirit. I may ask open-ended questions that are intended to help you go deeper. There will likely be shared silence as we sit with, contemplate, and hold all that is on your heart. 

Location

 Individual sessions are one hour long and typically occur monthly. They can be online via Zoom, in person in Antioch, TN, or by phone.

 I will email the Zoom link or the physical address the day before your scheduled session. 

 Scheduling 

 Sessions are available Monday through Thursday, with morning, afternoon, and evening times. A limited number of Friday and Saturday sessions are also available for those with busy weekdays.

Fee
The fee for an individual session is $75. I do not want the fee to be a barrier to you receiving spiritual direction, so please request the reduced rate if the fee is a challenge for you.

Confidentiality

Sharing your experiences and spiritual life with another person is deeply sacred. As a client, you may share your spiritual direction experience with anyone you wish.  I, as Spiritual Director and clergy, am ethically bound to confidentiality. This means that what you share with me in your spiritual direction session stays between us.

 I adhere to the Code of Ethics For Spiritual Directors and the UUMA Guidelines for the Conduct of Ministry. 

There are some limits to confidentiality:

By Tennessee law, I am a mandated reporter of child and elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. That means that I must notify the authorities of those situations and if you threaten serious bodily harm or death of another person or persons.

If you are in danger of suicide, I will bring in as many resources as possible that may help you to remain alive. 

Supervision

I participate in supervision. The purpose of which is to obtain feedback and improve my skills as a spiritual director. The focus is primarily on my activity within the session—what I asked, said, felt, and so forth. This information is used to help me grow as a spiritual director. Supervision is also bound by confidentiality. No client names or specific identifying information are shared.
